I had been creatively stuck for years. This workshop gave me clarity, direction, and the discipline to turn my images into a coherent body of work. It was the breakthrough I truly needed.

Artist Development Workshop – Intensive One Day Format
An intensive one-day format designed to transform photographs into cohesive work. This Artist Development Workshop by Markus Schlamadinger focuses on concept, artistic direction, guided shooting, and the discipline of editing and sequencing into a coherent photographic series.
Created for photographers who seek depth rather than volume, this format prioritizes clarity, authorship, and intentional image-making on an international level.
A Focused Environment for Serious Work
The workshop takes place in a small, carefully selected group setting. This ensures concentrated feedback, direct exchange, and the possibility to work individually on your artistic language. The atmosphere is professional, focused, and constructive. The aim is not to produce random strong images, but to develop work that carries conceptual consistency and visual integrity.
From Concept to Coherent Series
The day is structured around four central pillars:
Concept and Positioning
We begin with a critical review of your current portfolio. Together, we analyze recurring themes, visual patterns, and narrative gaps. The goal is to refine or redefine your artistic direction and to clarify the conceptual foundation of your work.
Direction and Guided Shooting
Depending on the focus of the group, we work on directing models, controlling light, and shaping atmosphere. Particular attention is given to intention: Why this image? Why this gesture? Why this framing? Every decision must serve the overarching idea.
Editing and Selection
Strong work is defined by what is left out. We work intensively on selection criteria, reduction, and visual consistency. Editing is approached as an artistic discipline rather than a technical task.
Sequencing and Series Development
Images only unfold their full strength in relation to one another. We develop coherent series structures, explore rhythm and visual tension, and define how your work communicates within a curated context such as exhibitions, publications, or portfolios.
For Photographers Seeking Artistic Depth
This workshop is designed for photographers who aim to develop a recognizable artistic voice. It is particularly suited for those working in portraiture, fine art photography, or conceptual projects who wish to elevate their work beyond single images.
Due to the intensive nature of the format, participation is limited. The workshop is offered selectively and may require an application including a portfolio submission. This ensures a high level of exchange and artistic commitment within the group.
Application and Further Information
The Artist Development Workshop is not a general photography course. It is a curated format for photographers ready to question, refine, and strengthen their artistic position.
